Privacy policy

This policy explains how True Rate ("we", "us") handles information on this website. It's in plain English, with no tricks.

The short version

• The free calculator and Price a job run in your browser. The numbers you type are not sent to us.
• If you join the email list, we get your email (and first name if you give it).
• If you buy, Stripe processes the payment. We never see your full card number.
• We don't sell your information.

What we collect and why

• Email list (Zoho Campaigns): if you sign up on the calculator page, the form sends your email address and, if you give it, your first name straight to Zoho Campaigns, the service that runs our list. Zoho emails you a link to confirm; you're only added once you click it. Zoho keeps your email, first name, the list you joined (True Rate), when you signed up and confirmed (its record of your consent), and whether you open or unsubscribe from our emails. We use it only to send occasional pricing tips and True Rate news. The signup does not send the numbers you typed into the calculator. We count signups as a daily total with no ID attached. • Purchases (Stripe): name, email, billing details and the order amount, plus the link tag described under Browser storage below. We use this to deliver your purchase, handle refunds and support, and keep required business records.
• Hosting (Cloudflare): our host may process standard technical data such as IP address and browser type to serve and protect the site.
• Browser storage: the site keeps the link tag (utm values) in your browser's session storage so it can be attached to a purchase during the same visit. It's cleared when you close the tab. We don't set advertising cookies.
• Your six numbers and Price a job: the rate calculator saves the numbers you type in this browser's local storage (key tr_numbers) so they're waiting for you next time on the home page, the calculator and the price pages. They are never sent to us. "Start over with the sample numbers" clears them, or clear your browser's site data. The price text you copy goes only where you paste it. When you copy or text a price, that ticket (the jobs, hours, parts and the price) is kept in this browser too (key tr_jobs, the last six) so it shows under "Recent prices on this phone". "Clear these" removes them. These aren't sent to us either.
• Rate card and price sheet: the image and the printable sheet are made in your browser. Your business name, phone or website and card options are saved in this browser's local storage (key tr_card) so a reload doesn't lose them. Nothing is uploaded. Clear it with your browser's site-data settings.
• Share buttons and the embeddable calculator: shared links carry tags that name the button they came from (for example utm_source=ratecard), never you. We count each share action as a daily total with no ID attached. The embedded calculator on other sites works the same way as this one: numbers stay in the visitor's browser.

Who processes your information

Stripe (payments), Zoho Campaigns (email list), Cloudflare (hosting), and Google Fonts (typefaces, loaded from Google's servers). Each handles data under its own privacy policy.

Your choices

• Every email has an unsubscribe link.
• You can ask us to access, correct or delete your information by emailing our support inbox. Some purchase records must be kept for tax and legal reasons.
• Depending on where you live (for example California or the EU/UK), you may have additional rights. Contact us and we'll help.

Children

This site is for businesses and isn't directed at children under 16.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the effective date above.
